Whats strange about this group is that they had some good rock songs out. Crystal Blue persuaasion i like but many poeple think it has too much God references in it.
I did some research on this group and supposedly Tommy James got saved at a Billy Graham crusade in 1968, what does this have to do wth rock? Im getting to it.
Anyway, if you look at their message boards, there are Christians trying to get him to do Christian music because he did originally make one Christian album in 1971, Christian of The World, but it had really as much paganism in it as it did Christianity, even the name Christian of the world doesnt exactly sspell out fundamentalism. I myself am not a Christian, I just find it very very strange there are Christians out there trying to make his mussic sound more Christian then it is, I dont find his music Christian at all frankly, he maybe a Christian, but if I thought his music were Christian I wouldnt have it here at the hard rock cafe. And some of these Christians say they want him to perform with Christian artists and start doing Christian music, I find that whole situation frankly crazy insane and bazzare. Hes not going Christian hes aalready said hes staying in his old classic rock forumn but let me say this about Tommys music.
I bought one of the live albums a few months back for the first time and heard alot of his music.Take sonegs like Crimson and Clover, which is obviously erotic,
Sugar On Sunday, Do Something to Me, Say Say I am and Sweet Cherry Wine, this is not Christian music LOL.
He maybe Christian but this is rockinroll ok , I think some of these people are just I dont know what theyre doing , using the song Crystal Blue Persuasion as an excuse to try and make Tommy James into something hes not.
I dont care what religion Tommy is, Tommy is rockinroll thats all I care about and that makes him ok in my book.
